Treat your ingredients with care...
- Beef steak — For the best results, choose a tender cut of beef such as sirloin or flank steak. Make sure to slice it thinly against the grain to ensure tenderness.
- Ajvar — Ajvar is a traditional Bosnian red pepper spread. You can find it in specialty stores or make your own by roasting red peppers, eggplant, and garlic, then blending them together with olive oil and vinegar.
- Kajmak — Kajmak is a creamy dairy product similar to clotted cream. If you can't find kajmak, you can substitute it with sour cream or Greek yogurt.
Tips & Tricks
- For extra flavor, you can add a splash of red wine vinegar to the marinade.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the marinade.
- Don't overcook the beef to keep it tender and juicy.
- Warm the tortillas just before serving to make them more pliable.
- Serve the tacos with a side of Bosnian-style cabbage salad for a refreshing accompaniment.
