Preparation

1.Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2.In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sugar, honey, heavy cream, sesame oil, and Chinese five-spice powder. Stir until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is well combined.

3.Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the sliced almonds, flour, dried cranberries, and candied orange peel. Mix until all the ingredients are evenly coated.

4.Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each Florentine as they will spread during baking.

5.Flatten each spoonful of mixture with the back of a spoon to create thin, round Florentines.

6.Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

7.Remove from the oven and let the Florentines cool completely on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
