Preparation
-
1.In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until golden brown.
-
2.Add the ground beef and lamb to the skillet, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through.
-
3.Stir in the tomato paste, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. Remove from heat and set aside.
-
4.Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
-
5.In a separate bowl, whisk together the plain yogurt and eggs until well combined.
-
6.Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Place a layer of lasagne noodles on top, followed by another layer of meat sauce. Repeat this process until all the ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of lasagne noodles.
-
7.Pour the yogurt mixture evenly over the top layer of lasagne noodles. Sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese on top.
-
8.Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
-
9.Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Treat your ingredients with care...
- Lasagne noodles — Cook the lasagne noodles according to the package instructions, but slightly undercook them as they will continue to cook in the oven.
- Yogurt — Use plain yogurt with a creamy consistency for the best results.
Tips & Tricks
- To enhance the flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon to the meat sauce.
- For a spicier kick, sprinkle some red pepper flakes on top before baking.
- If you prefer a crispier top layer, broil the lasagne for a few minutes at the end of the baking time.
- Feel free to add layers of sautéed vegetables such as zucchini or bell peppers for added texture and flavor.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated the next day for an equally delicious meal.
