Preparation

1.In a large saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, water, and maple syrup. Stir over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved.

2.Gradually whisk in the cornstarch, ensuring there are no lumps.

3.Continue cooking the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and starts to pull away from the sides of the pan. This should take about 15-20 minutes.

4.Remove the mixture from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.

5.Line a baking dish with parchment paper and pour the mixture into it, spreading it evenly.

6.Sprinkle the crushed pecans over the top, gently pressing them into the mixture.
