Ingredients

While traditional Mexican guacamole relies heavily on lime juice and cilantro, this Moroccan adaptation incorporates spices like cumin and coriander to give it a unique twist. The addition of harissa or chili powder adds a subtle heat, and the use of preserved lemon adds a tangy and slightly bitter note. These flavors combine to create a guacamole that is both familiar and delightfully unexpected. We alse have the original recipe for Guacamole, so you can check it out.

Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Avocados — Choose ripe avocados that yield to gentle pressure when squeezed. If they are not ripe enough, the guacamole will lack creaminess.
  • Preserved lemon — If you can't find preserved lemon, you can substitute with fresh lemon zest for a similar tangy flavor.

Tips & Tricks

  • For an extra kick of heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the guacamole.
  • To prevent the guacamole from turning brown, press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the dip before refrigerating.
  • Experiment with different spices and herbs to customize the flavors to your liking.
