Ingredients

In the adaptation of Klašuni to Lahori cuisine, we incorporate the distinct flavors and spices that are characteristic of Lahori dishes. The original Croatian recipe is transformed by using Lahori spices such as cumin, coriander, turmeric, and garam masala. The filling is enhanced with traditional Lahori ingredients like ginger, garlic, and green chilies, adding a spicy kick to the dumplings. The dish is also served with a tomato-based sauce and yogurt, which are commonly found in Lahori cuisine. We alse have the original recipe for Klašuni, so you can check it out.

Preparation

  1. 1.
In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt for the dough. Gradually add water and knead until a smooth dough is formed. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  2. 2.
In a separate bowl, mix together the minced meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green chilies, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Set aside.
  3. 3.
Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
  4. 4.
Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan and cook for a minute. Then, add the tomato puree, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook the sauce until it thickens.
  5. 5.
Divide the dough into small portions and roll each portion into a thin circle.
  6. 6.
Place a spoonful of the meat filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the edges of the dough to seal the filling and shape it into a dumpling.
  7. 7.
Steam the dumplings for about 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through.
  8. 8.
Serve the Lahori-style Stuffed Dumplings with the tomato-based sauce, a dollop of yogurt, and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro.
