Preparation

1.Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).

2.In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, ground cinnamon, chili powder or cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and all-purpose flour. Mix well until the apples are evenly coated.

3.Roll out half of the masa harina pie crust and line a 9-inch pie dish with it.

4.Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust, spreading it evenly.

5.Dot the diced butter over the apple filling.

6.Roll out the remaining masa harina pie crust and place it over the apple filling. Trim any excess crust and crimp the edges to seal.

7.Make a few slits on the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.

8.Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
