Ingredients
In this adaptation, we have replaced the traditional pig-shaped Marranitos with classic gingerbread cookies. The original Mexican recipe uses lard, but we have substituted it with butter to suit the Bangladeshi cuisine. Additionally, we have incorporated Bangladeshi spices like cardamom and nutmeg to infuse the cookies with a unique flavor profile. Preparation

1.Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2.In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cardamom, and nutmeg.

3.In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

4.Add the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture. Mix well until combined.

5.Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.

6.Roll the dough into small balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.

7.Flatten each ball slightly with the back of a spoon or your palm.

8.Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the cookies are slightly firm to the touch.

9.Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
