Ingredients

While the original New York-style pizza is known for its thin and crispy crust, our Thai-inspired version features a slightly thicker crust to hold the vibrant Thai toppings. We have also replaced the traditional tomato sauce with a spicy Thai basil sauce, and added unique Thai ingredients such as lemongrass, Thai chilies, and fresh herbs to elevate the flavors. Preparation

  1. 1.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Gradually add the warm water and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  2. 2.
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  3. 3.
Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F). Punch down the dough and roll it out into a 12-inch circle. Place the dough on a greased baking sheet or pizza stone.
  4. 4.
Spread the spicy Thai basil sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  5. 5.
In a small bowl, combine the cooked chicken, red bell pepper, red onion, Thai chilies, Thai basil leaves, fish sauce, and lime juice. Toss to coat the ingredients with the sauce.
  6. 6.
Spread the chicken mixture over the cheese, distributing it evenly. Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. 7.
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice and serve hot.

Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Thai basil leaves — Gently tear the leaves to release their aroma before adding them to the pizza.
  • Thai chilies — Adjust the amount of chilies according to your spice preference. Remove the seeds for a milder heat.
  • Fish sauce — Look for a high-quality fish sauce for the best flavor. If unavailable, you can substitute with soy sauce.

Tips & Tricks

  • For a crispier crust, preheat your baking sheet or pizza stone in the oven before placing the rolled-out dough on it.
  • Experiment with different Thai herbs such as kaffir lime leaves or lemongrass to add more depth to the flavors.
  • If you prefer a vegetarian version, substitute the chicken with tofu or your favorite vegetables.
  • To make the pizza spicier, add a few drops of Thai chili sauce or sprinkle some crushed red pepper flakes on top before baking.
  • Serve the pizza with a side of sweet chili sauce or Thai peanut sauce for dipping.
