Preparation
-
1.In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Gradually add the warm water and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
-
2.Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
-
3.Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F). Punch down the dough and roll it out into a 12-inch circle. Place the dough on a greased baking sheet or pizza stone.
-
4.Spread the spicy Thai basil sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
-
5.In a small bowl, combine the cooked chicken, red bell pepper, red onion, Thai chilies, Thai basil leaves, fish sauce, and lime juice. Toss to coat the ingredients with the sauce.
-
6.Spread the chicken mixture over the cheese, distributing it evenly. Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
-
7.Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice and serve hot.
Treat your ingredients with care...
- Thai basil leaves — Gently tear the leaves to release their aroma before adding them to the pizza.
- Thai chilies — Adjust the amount of chilies according to your spice preference. Remove the seeds for a milder heat.
- Fish sauce — Look for a high-quality fish sauce for the best flavor. If unavailable, you can substitute with soy sauce.
Tips & Tricks
- For a crispier crust, preheat your baking sheet or pizza stone in the oven before placing the rolled-out dough on it.
- Experiment with different Thai herbs such as kaffir lime leaves or lemongrass to add more depth to the flavors.
- If you prefer a vegetarian version, substitute the chicken with tofu or your favorite vegetables.
- To make the pizza spicier, add a few drops of Thai chili sauce or sprinkle some crushed red pepper flakes on top before baking.
- Serve the pizza with a side of sweet chili sauce or Thai peanut sauce for dipping.
