Treat your ingredients with care...

  • Lemongrass — Remove the tough outer layers before finely chopping the white parts for a more tender texture.
  • Fish sauce — Use a high-quality fish sauce for the best flavor. Adjust the amount according to your taste preference.
  • Peanut butter — Opt for natural peanut butter without added sugar or hydrogenated oils for a healthier option.
  • Hoisin sauce — Look for a vegetarian or gluten-free version if needed.
  • Chili paste — Adjust the amount of chili paste based on your desired level of spiciness.

Tips & Tricks

  • Soaking the bamboo skewers in water prevents them from burning during grilling.
  • For a vegetarian option, substitute the chicken with tofu or tempeh.
  • Serve the Vietnamese-style Satay with a side of fresh cucumber and carrot salad for a refreshing contrast.
  • If you prefer a milder flavor, reduce the amount of chili paste in the peanut sauce.
  • Double the recipe and freeze the extra skewers for a quick and convenient meal option.
