Treat your ingredients with care...
- Miso paste — Look for white or red miso paste, which can be found in Asian grocery stores. Adjust the amount according to your preference for saltiness.
- Shiitake mushrooms — If fresh shiitake mushrooms are not available, you can use rehydrated dried shiitake mushrooms instead. Soak them in hot water for 20 minutes before slicing.
Tips & Tricks
- For an extra kick of flavor, add a drizzle of sesame oil to the miso marinade.
- Experiment with different types of bread, such as whole wheat or multigrain, to add a nutty flavor to the Tramezzino.
- If you prefer a vegetarian version, substitute the chicken with marinated tofu or grilled eggplant.
- Customize the pickled daikon by adding a pinch of chili flakes or grated ginger for added complexity.
- Serve the Tramezzino with a side of soy sauce or ponzu dipping sauce for an extra burst of flavor.
