Ingredients
While the concept of sushi remains the same, Bosnian-style Sushi incorporates Bosnian ingredients and flavors. Instead of raw fish, we use smoked Bosnian beef and locally sourced vegetables. The sushi rice is seasoned with a touch of Bosnian honey and vinegar, adding a subtle sweetness. The traditional wasabi is replaced with a spicy Bosnian ajvar sauce, giving the rolls a unique kick. Preparation
-
1.Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
-
2.In a saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover. Cook for 15 minutes or until the rice is tender.
-
3.In a small bowl, mix together the Bosnian honey, rice vinegar, and salt. Set aside.
-
4.Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and let it cool slightly. Gradually pour the honey-vinegar mixture over the rice, gently folding it in with a wooden spoon.
-
5.Place a sheet of nori seaweed on a bamboo sushi mat. Spread a thin layer of the seasoned rice evenly over the nori, leaving a small border at the top.
-
6.Arrange slices of smoked Bosnian beef, cucumber, carrot, and red bell pepper in a line across the rice.
-
7.Using the bamboo mat, tightly roll the sushi, applying gentle pressure to ensure it holds its shape.
-
8.Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients.
-
9.Slice each roll into bite-sized pieces and serve with Bosnian ajvar sauce for dipping.

- Experiment with different Bosnian ingredients such as pickled cabbage or Bosnian cheese for unique flavor variations.
- If you prefer a milder taste, reduce the amount of Bosnian ajvar sauce.
- Serve the Bosnian-style Sushi with a side of Bosnian yogurt for a refreshing contrast.
